George Clooney received a nasty hand injury when he slammed his hand in a car door by accident.

The 49-year-old George Clooney (picture above) had previously been in a motorcycle accident, but that was two years ago, with then-girlfriend Sarah Larson. Contrary to reports, he was not this time involved in a motorcycle accident with current girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis near Lugano, which is at the Swiss-Italian border.

The truth about George Clooney’s hand injury is thankfully less dramatic that these reports. Clooney’s rep, Stan Rosenfield revealed to the L.A. Times, the truth of what happened this time around. It differs significantly from reports in the European media which stated he had been in a motorcycle accident.

According to Rosenfield, this is what happened to the actor, known both for his earlier work in ER as well as for staring in movies such as Leatherheads and Burn after Reading.

“There was an accident, and he did break his hand,” Clooney’s dry-witted rep Stan Rosenfield said today. “He was not riding a motorcycle, it was not in Switzerland. … He was on his property in Italy, and he shut the car door on his hand.”

“The doctor has given him 30-40 years more to live, and no live animals were harmed during the wrapping of the hand.”

In a separate statement Stan Rosenfield revealed to RadarOnline.com details of the incident, saying:

“This is an old, old story..He actually broke his hand a couple of months ago, not weeks. If you look at pictures of George from a couple of months back you’ll notice a bandage. He shut his hand in a car door. But he’s fine now and the hand is fully recovered.”
