John Mayer Mug Shot
Guitar star John Mayer issued a challenge, if TMZ could find his mug shot from 2001 he would donate 25k to the charity of their choice.
Here is the original tweet:
“if Harvey Levin at TMZ can produce my mug shot, I will donate 25k to the charity of his choice.”
It didn’t take the outlet long—not surprising considering they’ve boasted about just how “wired” they really are (a fact they proved before and after the story broke of Michael Jackson’s death).
TMZ admits that The Smoking Gun posted the mug-shot roughly five minutes before they did. TSG has the proof that they beat TMZ to the punch because of a tweet sent out at 3:03PM. Regardless, it looks like Mayer will have to pay up because the challenge was apparently directed at them, and not TSG.
MTV reports that the challenge came about after Fall Out Boy’s lead singer Patrick Stump was arrested for a similar charge. Following that news, John Mayer tweeted that he’d had a similar experience, and joked that “It’s the lamest answer to the question ‘why you in here?”
The mug-shot was taken after John Mayer was arrested in Atlanta eight years ago for driving on a suspended license. Not long after, the case was dismissed, and he was let off the hook.
