Charlie Watts Has Not Quit
Despite all the rumors, Charlie Watts has not quit the Rolling Stones.
Fans can rest assured. The Rolling Stones are intact and the 68-year-old drummer who is a founding member of the band, and as such has been with them since 1962, is not leaving. As Uncut.co.uk reports, the story can be traced back to a Web site in Australia, called Undercover, which had stated that a source within the Stones’ inner circle” said:
“Charlie Watts has quit the band. He will never record or tour with the band again.”
However, a spokesman for the Rolling Stones, has said otherwise as The Telegraph also reports, quoting the statement:
“Contrary to a fabricated story that ran this morning on a small music web site in Australia, drummer Charlie Watts has not left the Rolling Stones.”
The Telegraph goes on to note that the Australian Web site still claims its original story is true, and says that Charlie Drayton, a session drummer who has performed with Keith Richards will be replacing Watts.
